CCA Tashkent Named Among TIME’s World’s Greatest Places 2026

We are honoured to share that the Centre for Contemporary Arts Tashkent (CCA Tashkent) has been included in the annual list of the World’s Greatest Places 2026 by TIME.

To compile the list, TIME solicited nominations from its international network of correspondents and contributors, as well as through an application process. The selections span hotels, cruises, restaurants, attractions, museums, parks, and more—each chosen for offering new and exciting experiences around the world.

Recognised as one of the most exciting new places to visit, CCA Tashkent is anticipated to open this year, promising an exhilarating experience for contemporary culture in Uzbekistan. In its feature, TIME highlights the growing international attention on the country’s cultural landscape following the debut of the Bukhara Biennial last autumn. The centre will open in a former tram depot and diesel station in Tashkent, transformed by French architects Studio KO, and will launch with the inaugural exhibition Hikmah, bringing together an international roster of artists including Uzbek ceramicist Shokhrukh Rakhimov, Korean conceptual artist Kimsooja, Tunisian sculptor Nadia Kaabi-Linke, and Saudi artist Muhannad Shono. The publication also frames the opening as part of a broader cultural shift across the region, as Central Asia increasingly establishes its presence on the global contemporary art stage.
